Death of the Baseball Ground

Rubble lays where fans used to sit
Earlier this year, we said goodbye to the Baseball Ground as work began on tearing it down.

Here we can reveal what the stadium looks like now that demolition is almost complete.

Like an elderly dog that goes blind and then finds it hard to get around, the Baseball Ground is dying a sad and lonely death.

A visit to the home of so many glorious memories for Rams fans reveals that demolition on the club's former home is almost complete.

Seats have been ripped up, signs pulled down and turf removed as contractors work to tear the old stadium down.

Our gallery shows the BBG as it looked in its heyday, how it looked in October this year and the very latest - now that just one stand remains.

The ground has been sold to developers, The Walbrook Group, who are to build housing once the stadium has been fully demolished.

A memorial is being planned to eventually stand on the BBG site to mark its illustrious past.

But Derby County's future lies at Pride Park stadium - and at least lifelong supporters will always have the memories of a ground known for having one of the best atmospheres in English football.

And a big thank you to Andy Cudworth for the pics. If you've got any great pics, send them in jpeg format to derby@bbc.co.uk
